Songs For The Turntable - EP

Working again with producer Paul Ebersold at Nashville's Sound Kitchen Studios and Memphis' Ardent Studios, Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ complete this four-part EP series, which has heard the Kevn Kinney–led band run through the history of rock ’n’ roll in their own way. Songs from the Turntable is a straightforward five-track EP that’s been released this way because Kinney is well aware that attention spans and LP formats often mean the later songs on an album get far less attention than the first batch. Releasing his songs this way ensures everyone is likely to get through what would’ve been an album side, back when you had the option to start with side two. That said, every song here deserves to be heard. Guitars chime in stereo; lead vocals, harmonies, backing keyboards, and who knows what else create an impressive wall of sound for upbeat tunes like “Strangers” and “Turn.” For a true sense of the band’s musical lyricism, there’s the reflective “Love Is the World.” “Jesus Christ!” is the nasty jam.
