Love Is Strange (Con Tino Di Geraldo) [En Vivo]

While Jackson Browne has struggled in the past few decades with his songwriting, he has never lost his touch for performance. His impeccable sideman David Lindley always deserved to be a star in his own spotlight and what he brings to Browne’s music has always gone above and beyond that of a mere backing musician. Together, they revisit the high points of each of their careers. “These Days” with a chilling guest vocal from Luz Casal, “Late for the Sky” and “Running On Empty” meet up with Lindley’s “El Rayo X” and Lindley’s stunning fiddle playing on “Take It Easy.” These live cuts from their 2006 Spanish tour feature the accompaniment of the great percussionist Tino di Geraldo and others. Best for hardcore fans is the heartfelt “Call It a Loan,” here stripped of the smooth ‘80s production of the Hold Out collection, and the title track where the duo take the much covered Mickey & Sylvia hit and enjoy it for all the fun it provides. “Looking East,” “For Everyman,” “Your Bright Baby Blues,” the tracks add up. Browne and Lindley are at the top of their game.
