An established singer/songwriter, Teddy Thompson knew if he corralled his mother, father, brother, and his sister—along with his nephew and his sister's husband—to make an album together, it would be magical. Since Teddy's mother and father are the British folk legends Linda and Richard Thompson, magic is implied. Sister Kami and her husband, James Walbourne, record as The Rails. Teddy wrote the title track to address his unsure feelings as to where he fits into this musical clan, while Linda wrote “Bonny Boys” for her children. The remaining songs benefit from the overabundance of musicianship. The higher-profile members wrote two songs apiece, and the results are stylistically varied and first-rate.
