Now It's Tomorrow

Now It's Tomorrow

Randall Bramblett initially made his reputation as a top-notch multi-instrumentalist working alongside Steve Winwood, Gregg Allman, and Robbie Robertson, as well as contributing to the musically respected Sea Level. However, over the years, Bramblett has increasingly focused on his solo career, honing his songwriting with serious lyrical ambitions and a balance of tough roadhouse rockers and pensive ballads. His singing has deepened in nuance and can swoon from cranky and gruff to reassuring without losing focus. Now It’s Tomorrow is Bramblett’s seventh solo album — and fourth this decade. It follows in the path of its predecessor, 2006’s Rich Somebody, employing the same backing group, producer and engineers. It’s similar in tone and structure, using sparse electric guitars and flexible organ runs to set up a nightclub groove. And with songs as resilient as the low-key funk of “Sun Runs,” “Blue Road,” and “You Better Move,” and others as beautifully reflective as “Everybody Glows” and “Where a Life Goes,” Tomorrow serves as a deserving follow-up that furthers Bramblett’s case as a songwriter with a growing catalog of mature tunes.
